Ordering Process
Currently there is a 6-12 month lead time on custom orders.
Step 1
Normally there is an initial inquiry that includes a visit to my shop. After a discussion of style and design elements, an approximate commission price will be proposed. Before any further detailed discussions can proceed, a $1,500 non-refundable deposit must be received. This payment will secure your spot in my build schedule and is used for extensive design consultation, purchase of materials and hardshell case, and the construction of any patterns or jigs that may be necessary to complete your build.
Step 2
After the deposit is received, the precise details of the proposed instrument will be finalized. I will then submit a contract to you by mail that specifies the total cost, payment schedules, list of all features, materials to be used, and design elements. Signed copies will be exchanged.
Step 3
You will be notified when your build is about to commence. At this time all materials and design elements will be reconfirmed. I need a clear picture of all design elements before the start of construction. Before construction starts, a second payment 50% of the remaining balance is due. Any changes after construction starts, if they are possible, will require an additional fee.
Step 4
You will be notified when your instrument is completed. At this time the final balance becomes due. Payment must be received before the instrument is delivered. I prefer instruments to be picked up in person, but will ship if necessary. All shipping charges, insurance fees, and applicable taxes are the customer’s responsibility.
